MAYA is a Dutch singer-songwriter and rebel with a cause. Her music blends indie-folk and storytelling with raw emotion, drawing inspiration from nature and her inner world. She creates songs that offer both comfort and confrontation, always holding space for hope.

She accompanies her warm vocals with piano, guitar, and a loop station. With perceptive, poetic lyrics in both English and Dutch, she tells stories of life's struggles - moments of darkness that paradoxically lead to the biggest smile. MAYA also works with visual disciplines such as illustration, animation, and dance, which manifest in her music videos and live visuals. Together with her introspective sound, this creates an intimate world of honesty, comfort, and raw expression.

In September 2025, MAYA released her debut EP For Those Who Hope. A deeply personal work that embraces vulnerability and resilience without shying away from the shadows. The release was celebrated with a special release show in the Schiller Theater.

The 24-year-old graduated from the Conservatory of Utrecht in 2023. She performed at events like ESNS, Sofar Sounds Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg, and as a support act for Ciao Lucifer. She has been recognized by competitions including the International Young Songwriter competition by Song Academy, the ILFU storytelling competition, and Kunstbende Utrecht.
